Being the Change

anthony sandersHi all! My name is Anthony Sanders and I am one of the new interns at ZOE for the Spring 2017 semester. I am currently in my last semester at California Lutheran University, with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Ethnic Studies. Throughout some classes at my university, I have realized how big of an issue human trafficking has become and how I want to be part of something to help fight the issue.

I was introduced to ZOE through a friend and former ZOE intern, Nicole Bird. She told me about how great the internship was and how she felt like she was making a difference by helping the victims of trafficking. Knowing this, I didn't think twice about wanting to be a part of ZOE and making a difference myself.

So far during my internship, I have realized the importance of being aware of human trafficking and that if more people know about this horrific crime, then more people will be willing to fight. I’m beyond grateful for ZOE allowing me to raise awareness about this issue, while contributing to the fight through different research projects.

ZOE has also allowed me to make great connections for my future in law enforcement. After school I plan on becoming a police officer in Southern California so I can continue to make a difference in our communities. As a law enforcement officer I want to help people in many different ways by being a role model, and fixing the broken relationship between law enforcement and the communities they patrol.

This internship is something that has become truly important to me and plays into my passion to help people and by the grace of God, I am thankful He lead me down this path.
